When planning a homebirth, the antenatal preparation is key. We have a range of easy self hypnosis downloads to mentally prepare yourself for your positive homebirth. Homebirth studies have found that given birth at home has many benefits.

Placing a pool of water in a birth room changes the atmosphere immediately.  Voices get softer, the mother stays calmer and everyone becomes less stressed.

The effect of buoyancy that deep water immersion creates allows spontaneous movement of the mother.  No one has to help the mother get into a new position. She moves as her body and the position of the baby dictate.  Movement helps open the pelvis, allowing the baby to descend.

 

When a woman in labor relaxes in a warm deep bath, free from gravity’s pull on her body, with sensory stimulation reduced, her body is less likely to secrete stress-related hormones. This allows her body to produce the pain inhibitors-endorphins-that complement labor. Noradrenaline and catecholamines, the hormones that are released during stress, actually raise the blood pressure and can inhibit or slow labor. A laboring woman who is able to relax physically, is able to relax mentally as well. Many women, midwives, and doctors acknowledge the analgesic effect of water. Thousands of these mothers state they would never be able to consider laboring without water again.


Waterbirth Tips:
- enter the pool when in established labour
- relax in the water
- keep the water at a warm temperature at all times (between 36.5 - 37.5 C)
- play soft music
- breathe deeply with every contraction
keep hydrated, drink lots
- test pool beforehand and have pool ready few days before due date
- use affirmations to stay on top of contractions (see below)

If you are stressed or anxious your body will tense and tighten making birth more difficult. Our Downloads will help you to achieve a wonderfully deep relaxation for a positive pregnancy and easier birth.
By regularly listening to a selection of our Relaxation Downloads you are training your brain and your body to associate the voice and music with deep relaxation. Whenever these familiar sounds are heard your mind and body will relax easily. Repetition means familiarity and you will find yourself relaxing more quickly, more deeply every time.
Eventually just the music and voice alone will act as a trigger to take you into a very relaxed state if you choose to go there.
In this relaxed state your body will feel that it is safe to release your baby and for you to give birth as easily and comfortably as possible. 
In this relaxed state it is powerful to imagine a positive experience of pregnancy, birth and beyond.   The more frequently you imagine this the more achievable it will be. The recordings will be very effective during your homebirth as they help you to remain calm and relaxed and feeling confident. in a relaxed state birth will always be a more positive experience.
The downloads for specific areas work by introducing positive suggestions and visualisations which can, when repeated regularly, have a powerful effect on physical aspects eg: turning a breech baby or reducing morning sickness.
Even if you do not 'visualise' the suggestions made, you will still benefit from the positive suggestions
